Another AP assignment, this was a homework, we had to draw a cross-section of a fruit/vegetable realistically, and then create an abstraction.
This reminded me a lot of the seashell thing I did as my summer assignment because instead of doing a real abstraction I did more of a textile design-type thing, only last time it was unintentional. And everyone kept asking me if the realistic kiwi was a photo. The end result of this was extremely sticky and took two kiwis to do (well I didn't use the second one). I was going to make it a series and use a starfruit, I ended up buying a starfruit and then asking everyone I knew about what it looked/tasted like, and I ended up waiting too long and it went bad on me so I never got to cut it, let alone eat it. I'm worried about buying another one but it would've been pretty. After that it pretty much came down to time constraints so I only handed in this, and my Wrath concentration which I absolutely refuse to put up here despite the fact that someone wants to buy it, I won money for it, and my teacher stuck it in two art shows. ...unless you guys want me to. But then I'll feel like a submission whore. It really isn't that impressive, I drew that in one night. This thing took me a day or two (surprisingly). Please give me feedback on this and my watercolor painting and honestly tell me whether or not either of these reek "ART HOMEWORK". I have to stop making my titles in French. MATERIALS USED: Copic markers, one of those black markers that smells like licorice so I could get a *black* black for that strip going down the side, white charcoal pencil and dry pastel on illustration board. The flesh on the realistic one turned out great, like a photo, and I like the colors.
And as far as starfruit goes, it tastes good, like sweet and sour. -- I am Pokemon #180 Flaaffy in DA's Pokemon Crew! Icon by ~angelishi. Cool concept. The abstract part looks like it could be a tablecloth.
