aw, I wasted my entire yesterday working on this... for
Heavily referenced, from some crystals CLAMP drew and this: [link] Well, uhm, wow. I waned to draw her for so long and I finally did it. I'd put it in Mixed Media but since dA is evil and won't let us categorize the pics we put in mixed media, I can't... ;_; I used mostly markers, smudged white ink for the glowy stuff and used it for the dots (which I did way too many of and I hate them now), and watercolors for the BG. Afterwards my hands made me look like I murdered a smurf... XD my fingers were all blue! The crystals were so hard... I went out and bought 2 new copics (which I havent used in a while) to do them! Umi's outfit was hard too! So much gold and stuff! Well, i think this is so far my best attempt at traditional medias. I scanned it and adjusted everything and touched it up to make it look cooler. ^^ My dad said that it looked really cold and he wanted to put on a sweatshirt when he saw it. ^^ yay, my art has emotion! XDDDD The point of this one isn't necessarily a fanart, but well, about the atual art and the work I put into it because I sorta like it. XDDD yay! Comments and faves much appreciated, I worked much harder on this than I did on Hikaru! Materials Used: Sepia Micron 05, watercolor brush markers, Copics, white ink, watercolor (for the blue BG) Time Taken: whoa. About 2 hours tops. Umi Ryuuzaki/Magic Knight Rayearth (c) CLAMP. Comments
You are SO amazing, Sumomo-chan. O_O The coloring on this is GORGEOUS, especially the crystals and hair, and the entire layout of this is great. I'm faving this for sure!
-- "Let a man get up and say, Behold, this is the truth, and instantly I perceive a sandy cat filching a piece of fish in the background. Look, you have forgotten the cat, I say." - Virginia Woolf I'm not too familiar with Magic Knight Rayearth, but I luckily know who this girl is, having seen the travesty of an OVA and owning the first book of the manga. The figure of Umi herself isn't technically astonishing (her right [our left] elbow and hand, for example), but my God, that colouring is possibly the most elaborate and beautiful I've seen outside of professional work. I especially love the way the colours blend; the blues on her outfit. Blue is my favourite colour and it warms (or should that be cools? your dad is right, it certainly is a very cold picture!
Even if it's for the colouring alone, -- at the end of it, there lies a fate i cannot escape. proud member of the ~eternalsonataclub -- also a proud member of the ~Blue-Sub-No-6-Club |
